March Update 1


Hi! It's been another 2 weeks, so time for another update!

This time I've been working on a short introductory scenario for the next demo. I'm not a fan of big mandatory tutorials that spell everything out, but I also know that it's easy to just get drowned in details in new games, so I've tried to split the difference by starting the demo off with some very short, easy fights that introduce the very basics. If you know what you're doing you can just smash through them nice and quick, but if you're feeling things out you can get an idea of what the different abilities do. At least, that's the plan!


I was going to include a mini-dungeon from a previous draft of the game at the start of this demo, but decided against it - I just want a short introduction to the traditional RPG combat features to give an idea what they are, before moving on. The game is going to alternate between super powered fighting in Faerie, and Gossipping on Earth, so the quicker both of those can be setup the better.


The last feature I managed to sneak in this sprint is adding Khas' Advanced Lighting script for the Faerie overworld. Faerie is based on Scottish mythology, where the fae "instead of the day, useth the night, and liveth as it were by candle light". The idea for the game is that Faerie exists outside of our normal liminal time, so there's no day or night per se. I'm really glad Khas had a very cool script available that let me show this off!

For the next sprint, I'm going to be focusing on polishing up some of the features in this intro scenario and adding the Court of Blossoms, the base of the Petal Knights, which will have optional information on their abilities. If that all goes well then the next step is starting work on the Gossip portion of the demo.
